Joan N. Sutherland (née Reed), 74, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024. Born on October 14, 1950, in Berea, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Emily Reed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert "Bob" Sutherland; her parents, Bernard and Emily Reed; her siblings, Larry Reed and Nancy (Ray) Frost; and her beloved poodles, Mitzy, Muffin, and Lexi.
She is survived by her siblings, Ruth White and Linda Miller. Joan was an adored aunt and a friend to many.
Joan grew up in Columbia Station, Ohio, where she graduated from Columbia High School. After graduation, she moved to the Strongsville, Ohio area, where she lived most of her life. Joan began her career in administration in 1969, starting as a receptionist and eventually becoming an administrative supervisor at Fairview Hospital until her retirement in 2014. She was loved and admired by many.
Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, and shopping. Joan cherished spending time with family, friends, and her beloved poodles, Mitzy, Muffin, and Lexi. She often hosted card game nights with wine and fun for girls' night and loved puzzles.
A graveside service will be held on Friday November 15, 2024 at 12:00pm. Please meet at Sunset Chapel located at 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 no later than 11:45am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Cleveland APL in memory of Mitzy, Muffin, and Lexi.
