John J. Baker of Valhalla, NY passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on Sunday, December 10, 2023. John was at Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, where he fought hard against lung cancer.
John was born on October 31, 1945, in New York City. John lived in Valhalla with his parents and siblings. He graduated from Valhalla High School, and upon graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served for two years in the Vietnam War.
John married the love of his life, Marie Alianiello in 1968 and started their family. John worked for the Mount Pleasant School District, and he then left to start his own landscaping business, where he enjoyed working outdoors and creating amazing gardens in his beloved community. He was also a member of the Valhalla Volunteer Fire Department where he made lifelong friends. We admire his bravery and dedication to those he loved. He had a very loving, caring heart and an unforgettable personality.

We grew up together in Valhalla John was a one of a kind person. Army veteran and he was known to all. Building his bird houses collecting his cans and bottles and riding around and stopping at my house in Hawthorne in his scooter. It was a great experience to have known John for 68 years. May God bless you and rest in Peace you deserve it. Again have a Blessed time in Heaven
