John Gonzalez

John Gonzalez, 66, of Middletown, a former warehouse worker and driver for Dana Distributors and longtime resident of the area, passed away on June 7, 2024, at Garnet Medical Center.
John was the son of the late Osvaldo Gonzalez-Sanchez and Julia Quiles-Gonzalez. He was born on May 16, 1958, in Newburgh, NY. John grew up in Monticello, NY, and graduated from Monticello High School in 1976. John had seven children: John, Danny, Stephanie, Colby, Emily, Logan, and Xiomara (formerly known as Mary).
Throughout his life, John loved to run, ride his bike, lift weights, listen to music, talk to friends and family, and attend church. John also loved gardening and caring for his 70+ potted plants at home. Perhaps most importantly, John was a true believer in faith and devoutly committed to God. Friends and family all take solace in the fact that John is now with his Creator and has been reunited with his parents and siblings.
Survivors include John's brother, Joe Gonzalez, of Middletown; his sister Maria Viera and brother Luis Viera, both of Florida; his son John Gonzalez and wife, of Spring Hill, Florida; his son Danny Gonzalez, of North Carolina; his daughter Stephanie Andujar, of Virginia; his son Colby Gonzalez of Middletown; his daughter Emily Gonzalez and partner Angelo, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his son Logan Gonzalez and partner Andrea, and his daughter Xiomara, both of whom live in Manhattan, New York. John is also survived by his grandchildren: Daniel, Jasmin, and Giselle, all of North Carolina, as well as Aurora Angel Gonzalez and Liyahana Ortiz, both of Spring Hill, Florida. John is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
John is predeceased by his father, Osvaldo; his mother, Julia; his first wife, Elsie; his sister, Geneva Quiles-Morris; his sister, Lydia Lopez; his sister, Margarita (Maggie) Viera; and his brother, Ozzie Gonzalez.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, June 15, from 12 - 2pm at Martinez-Morse Funeral Home, located at 33 Railroad Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. An internment at Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello, NY, will follow at 3pm.
