John Paul Hanemann, II, "Jack", a resident of St. Francisville, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024. He was 80 years old and was retired from Entergy with 42.5 years of service (originally a NOPSI employee). He retired as Director of Governmental Affairs. He lobbied the Louisiana Legislature and liaison to the Governor's Office and all State Agencies/Departments. He served as chairman of ENPAC- Louisiana, the political action committee for Entergy employees in Louisiana from Oct. 1988 to Jan. 2008. He was a Staff Sergeant with US Army Reserves, 1967-1973.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, conducted by Fr. Brad Doyle. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Catholic Church Cemetery, St. Francisville.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Astredo Haneman "Patty", a son, John Paul Hanemann, III, "Jay" and wife, Kristie.
Brother, William C. "Bill" Hanemann, 4 grandchildren, Amber Stapleton, Dalton Coe, John Paul Hanemann, IV "Jace" and Bella Hanemann. Great Grandchildren, Seth Stapleton, Autumn Stapleton, Sunday Stapleton and Baby Boy Stapleton due April 2025. Special niece, Beth Hew.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Paul Hanemann, mother, Constance Cavill White, stepfather, Frank White and step mother, Bette C. Helis.
Pallbearers will be Bill Hanemann, Jay Hanemann, Dalton Coe, Jace Hanemann, Larry Arnold, and Casey Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Peppi Bruneau, Gus, Michael and Kosta Michailakis, Scott Corden, Sammy Bougeus, Bob Louden, Boo Bernard, Richie Bernard, Aldreama Butler and Willie White.
He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University plus courses at Loyola, Tulane, and UNO (Distinguished Fellow-Institute of Politics.)
Jack's memberships included: Founder and past President of Friends of Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge. Founder and only charter Board Member still serving on RiverLand Credit Union's Board. Served as elected Board Chairman for 28 consecutive years. Attended numerous Credit Union educational seminars and courses. Board member and past officer of Utilities State Government Organization (USGO). President - West Feliciana Port Commission. Chairman - Louisiana Electric Utility Association. Served on the Board of Directors and as a member of the Insurance Services Committee of the Louisiana Credit Union League. Past Chairman of the Credit Committee of Louisiana Central Credit Union. Other memberships include: The Association of Louisiana Lobbyists, Public Affairs Research Council Research Committee, Louisiana Association of Business & Industry, The Nature Conservancy, Hunter's Run Gun Club, Coastal Conservation Association and the Audubon Society, West Feliciana Economic Development Commission and West Feliciana Home Rule Charter Commission.
