John S. Moore

John S. Moore, 80, of Orrville, formerly of Rittman, died Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Summa Barberton Hospital, following a period of declining health.
John was born November 9, 1944, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Willard and Audrey (Felty) Moore and has lived most of his life in Rittman and Orrville.
John proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Randolph and the USS Independence during the Vietnam War. He married Loretta Bogart on October 18, 1962, in Rittman and they have been happily married for 62 years.
He worked as a Millwright for Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton for several years and was a Sheriff's Deputy in Wayne County until his retirement. He was a member of the Wayne County Sheriff Reserve and the Orrville Masonic Lodge. He loved spending time with his wife, family, grandchildren and his sister's family, including special nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed going to the firing range and attending veteran's gatherings for the USS Randolph and the USS Independence.
Surviving is his loving wife, Loretta; daughter, Deb (Mark) Morrison; sons, Ron (Jody) Moore and James (Dana) Moore; grandchildren, Andy, Marcus, Addison and Piper; sister, Ginger (Fred) Booth; niece, Tina (Tim) Reed; nephews, Todd (Tracey) Booth and Brian (Carrie) Booth; and several grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Gene and Michael Moore.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Auble-Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Dr., Rittman with Todd Booth officiating. Burial of ashes will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 18 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
