John E. Taylor, age 82, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on January 30, 2025 at The Neighborhoods at Quail Creek. He was born May 29, 1942 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of John Everett Jr. and Mary Edith (Walker) Taylor.
John was raised in Willard, Missouri and was a Willard High School graduate. He was saved and baptized on March 10, 1963 at Community Baptist Church in Willard, Missouri.
John married his wife Billie Diane Taylor on April 24, 1965 at Community Baptist Church in Willard, Missouri.
John and his wife were involved in residential home building and real estate development. John developed 14 subdivisions in the Willard and Springfield area. In 1982, John left his machinist job at Frisco-Burlington Northern Railroad to pursue a full-time career as J.E. Taylor & Company Real Estate Broker and J.E. Taylor Construction Company. He was a member of the Contractors and Home Builder Association and served as President for the Board of Realtors. He was awarded "Best Home Builder" by the Springfield News Leader. He enjoyed his career and his philosophy was "I enjoy getting to see a finished product – something that you can start, mold, and finish and see people's lives affected by it. There's a lot of satisfaction in this."
John started Road Builders Utilities INC (RUI) for land development and infrastructure projects. He served on the Willard School Board and was active in Shriners Hospital as well as the local Arthritis Foundation. John and his wife, Billie, formed the 4-H club in the Willard area where he participated in showing cattle with his three daughters. Upon retiring, John enjoyed raising Great Danes as show dogs and pets.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Billie, his parents, John and Mary, his brother Tommy Taylor, and his sister Shirley Davis.
John is survived by his three daughters Tracy York and her husband Kelly, Tammy Calhoun and her husband David, and Teresa Johnson and her husband Shannon, five grandchildren, Kendall York, Colton Calhoun and his wife Heather, Carson Calhoun and his wife Ashley, Makenzie (Johnson) Cameron and her husband Alex, and Cole Johnson and his wife Kennedy, and two great granddaughters, Zoe Calhoun and Adeline Cameron.
