Jonathan Michael Cappellino, 23, of Plainville, oldest son of Peter and Dawne (Schneider) Cappellino, unexpectedly took his last breath in our world and went to eternal rest and peace on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Jonathan was a student at Plainville High School, earning his high school diploma, an accomplishment he was very proud of. Throughout his childhood, he was a member of the Boy Scouts in Plainville, where he discovered his love of the outdoors. Jon’s heart radiated with joy through his volunteer work, which spanned from church involvement to animal rescue.
A gifted “tinkerer,” he could take anything apart and put it back together even better than it was before. Jon loved animals, especially his dog, Thunder. He truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures; fishing with his dad and friends, being outdoors, sleeping under the stars and pepperoni pizza. He was a fun-loving goofball, a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, but above all, he loved life and lived it to the fullest.
In addition to his dedicated and unwavering parents, Jonathan will be dearly missed by his brother, Justin Cappellino of Bristol, maternal grandmother, Faith (Faye) Schneider of Plainville, two uncles, David Schneider and Michael Schneider (Debbie Mancheck) all of Southington and a great-aunt, Josie Hecei (Nick) of Ohio. He is also survived by a loving circle of cousins, with whom he shared a lifelong bond, as well as many friends.
Jonathan was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Peter and Sue Ann Cappellino, maternal grandfather, Noel Schneider, aunt and godmother, Julie Schneider and aunt, Annete Cappellino.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 531 Woodruff St., Southington. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
