Josefina P. "Josie" James, 64, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri, passed from this life September 27, 2024, in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born December 29, 1959, in Alcala, Pangasinan, Philippines, to Domingo De Vera and Rosalina Forbile De Vera.
Josie graduated from Cipriano P. Primicias Memorial High School in 1982. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries from Pangasinan State University in 1986.
She met her husband, Arlie, through a Pen Pal in 1991. They fell in love through correspondence and he visited her in the Philippines in 1992. She moved to the States in 1994 and Josie and Arlie married in December of 1994.
Josie enjoyed gardening, growing ornamental and flowering plants, reading. Josie and Arlie spent much of their lives on a farm gardening, and raising pigs and cows north of Springfield before moving to Pleasant Hope.
She is preceded in death by her father, Domingo De Vera; and her in-laws, Arlie James, Sr. and Irene James. Josie is survived by her husband, Arlie James, Jr. of the home; siblings, Arnido De Vera and wife, Sofia, Renato De Vera and wife Jelly, Luzviminda Sucgang and husband Baltazar Sucgang; nephews, Yuri and Arlie; nieces, Renalyn, Jenalyn, Katrina and Aprilie Hope; brother-in-law, Dallas James; and her best friend, Nora Mueller.
Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, October 7, 2024, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, 2001 W. Walnut Lawn St. in Springfield, Missouri. Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, in Springfield, Missouri.
Care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
