It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Quinn at the age of 67, after a brief but very courageous battle with metastatic prostate cancer. Joe peacefully left this earth on Sunday, October 27th, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a cherished individual, loved by all for his friendly, loving, and caring demeanor. Joseph died as he lived, with grace and dignity.
Joseph Anthony Quinn was born on July 31st, 1957 to Reginald and Charlotte Quinn in Lowell, MA. He moved to North Leominster, MA at the age of three. There, he became a big brother to John and Mary, developed a group of lifelong friends, and met the love of his life, Janice. Joe graduated from Leominster High School in 1975 and went on to enlist in the United States Army.
Joseph worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Leominster as a letter carrier for over 40 years. Joe also proudly served in the U.S Army/National Guard for 40 years. He deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004 and was the 3rd Command Chief Warrant Officer for the state of Massachusetts. He retired from the army in 2017 as a Chief Warrant Officer 5. In addition, he worked part time as the Sealer of Weights and Measures for the City of Leominster before retiring in August 2024.
Joseph met his sweetheart, Janice, in 1975. They were married on September 17th, 1978 and had three children together, Jonathan, Jacqueline, and Julianne. They have spent almost 50 years together raising their family with love and values to last a lifetime. They loved to watch their New England sports teams, traveling, and spending time with their six incredible grandchildren, who were the lights of Joe's life. Joe and Jan simply loved to do anything and everything, as long as they were together.
Joe loved being part of the Leominster Blue Devils Nation. He was proudly inducted into the LHS Hall of Fame for both Track and Field and Football, and continued to serve on the Hall of Fame board for several years. He could also be found at Doyle field under the Friday night lights, at the Thanksgiving Day games, and in most recent months- watching the games from home. He will always "Bleed Blue".
One of Joseph's proudest moments was attending and graduating from Northeastern University in Boston, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management in 2021.
Joseph leaves behind his wife of almost 50 years, Janice; Their children, SFC Jonathan Quinn and his wife, Alison of Grafenwohr, Germany; Jacqueline Crowley and her partner, Chris DiConza of Townsend; and Julianne Quinn of Lunenburg; Their grandchildren Michael Crowley, Taylor Crowley, Emelie Crowley, Charlotte DiConza, Evelyn Quinn and Alexander Quinn. Joe also leaves behind his brother John Quinn and his wife, Karen; his sister Mary Ryniak and her husband, Jim. As well as 7 nieces and nephews, and the many cousins he enjoyed growing up with.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws, and his brother-in-law. Joseph's departure will leave an unfillable void in our lives, yet we will find comfort in the many wonderful memories and unconditional love we all shared with him. Whether you knew Joe as family or friend, colleague, letter carrier, Chief or even coach, to know him was to love him. He will be missed beyond measure.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30th at Richardson Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 31st at Saint Leo Church, 108 Main Street, Leominster. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Leo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Leo's Parish in Leominster, MA, or the Veteran's Center of Leominster. Both were places Joseph was very passionate about.

I did not know Joe. He sounds wonderful. I wish I had! Jan and I were classmates at StB. My daughter Lindsay and Jacquie were dear friends in High School. I just want Jan to know she is in our thoughts and prayers. We are out of town so could not attend any of the services. So sorry.....

I did not know Joe. I did go to high school and graduate with Jan. Her daughter, Jacquie, and my daughter, Lindsay, were dear friends in High school. I am so sorry for your loss and this abrupt change in what is described as one big beautiful life with Joe. He sounds wonderful. I wish I had met him. I regret that I will not be in town to attend the services. I want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Donna and Richard Jarvis

My deepest and most heartfelt Condolences to the Quinn family on their loss. Joe was one of the most genuine and loving people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I have worked closely with Joe for many years, and I have great respect for the man, and the way he conducted himself. He was friendly, but firm, and had integrity, class, and a commanding way about him that I will always remember with respect.

Joe delivered the mail every day for years where I used to work and we loved chitchatting with him about his adventures. He was a very nice and warm human being. So sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathy.
