Juanita Jeanette (Jean) Steffens Osborn, 94. A longtime resident of Tallahassee, Florida passed away at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community on August 17, 2025. Jean was born in Shamrock, Florida, October 14, 1930, to Louis Henry Steffens and Lela Bell Williamson Steffens. She grew up in Live Oak, Florida and graduated from Suwannee High School in 1949. After graduation she worked at WNER Radio Station in Live Oak and married her husband, Gene. They moved to Panama City, Florida and then to Tallahassee in 1961 where Jean worked 30 years for Sears. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength and generosity. She dedicated her life to her family, always there with a slice of her pound cake, a listening ear, gentle advise and a warm embrace. She loved visiting with family, reading, crocheting, and most of all her Bluegrass music. She was president of the Jim & Jesse Fan Club for more than 35 years. First meeting Jim & Jesse McReynolds at the Suwannee River Jamboree in Live Oak, Florida in 1952 when she worked at the local radio station. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Clide Eugene (Gene) Osborn II and her son Clide Eugene (Gene) Osborn III. She is survived by her daughter Steffenie Osborn Hancock (Gerald) of Tallahassee. Her grandchildren Chris Osborn (Kelli), Jeff Osborn (Lori), Alex Hancock Alday, Matt Osborn (Amanda), Brooklyn Osborn Croy (Matt), Brittany Hancock Castelli (David), Emily Hancock Abellera (Richie), Hannah Hancock Dansereau (James), and her 12 great-grandchildren, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives. A memorial service will be held at Lafayette Presbyterian Church, 4220 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, Florida on September 20, 2025 at 3:00 pm. Niki Carney of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
