Karen I. Conrod

Karen I. (Habeski) Conrod, 73, of Bristol, beloved widow of the late John Conrod and Albert Mariotti, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the Hospital of St. Raphael after a long struggle with leukemia. Born in Bristol on July 13, 1951, Karen was the daughter of the late William and Katherine (Kucharski) Habeski Sr. Karen graduated from Bristol Eastern High School and attended nursing school, becoming an LPN. Locally, she worked at Ingraham Manor, where she was recognized for the exemplary care given to her patients. Many relatives of these patients sent letters of appreciation to the nursing home in Karens name. When she was married to Albert Mariotti, Karen worked in the drycleaning business with her husband in Florida, Arizona and North Carolina. When married to John Conrod, she was active in the American Legion. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, watching old western movies and visiting the casinos. Her true passion was collecting Chinese and Japanese figurines. Karen is survived by her brother David Habeski and his wife Laura of Bristol and by her sisters, Judy Morozuk and her husband Joe of Bristol and Jane Goodwin and her husband Alan also of Bristol. She is also survived by her two step-daughters Debbie and Sandi and by several nieces and nephews. Karen was pre-deceased by her two brothers, William Jr. and Kurt and by her sister Ellen Jones. A Mass of Christian Burial for Karen will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Stanislaus Church, 510 West St., Bristol, CT 06010. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will be private and there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Karens memory may be made to Smilow Cancer Center at Yale- New Haven Hospital, 35 Park St., New Haven, CT 06519. Karens family would like to acknowledge the staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital for their excellent care of our dear sister during her stay.
