Karen Jean (nee John) Simonson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Jean (nee John) Simonson, a beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. Karen passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at the age of 47 after a long battle with cancer.
Karen was born on April 26th, 1976 in West Allis, Wisconsin. She is survived by her parents David and Helen John and her sister, Lindsey John. She is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She grew up in New Berlin, WI and attended New Berlin Eisenhower High School. Karen went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and her Master's degree from Cardinal Stritch University. After completing her education, Karen pursued a career in Special Education in the Waukesha School District. She worked tirelessly to provide for her students and family.
Karen was a devoted wife to her loving husband Daniel James Simonson, and a dedicated mother to her children, Sophia May Simonson (17) and Jonah John Simonson (14). She always put her family first and was a pillar of strength for them through the thick and thin of life. Karen was a kind, compassionate, and generous person who touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a heart of gold with a smile that would light up any room. She was always willing to lend a listening ear or a helping hand to those in need.
Karen had many hobbies and interests that she enjoyed in her free time. She loved to make photo books of her family, loved to listen to music and sing, loved to go for a good shopping trip, watch sports, was always eager to travel to anything Disney, or go on a great cruise. She loved spending time in her flower gardens, going for a walk, and being there for her kids' various extracurricular activities.
Visitation will be held in Karen's honor on Sunday, June 4th from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Spring Creek Church, N35W22000 W. Capitol Dr., Pewaukee, WI 53072. Memorial service to immediately follow at 5:00. A small gathering for invited immediate family will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to her family.
