Kari Michelle Allen, 61, of Aubrey, TX, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025. She was born November 29, 1963, in Houston, TX to James Lee Allen and Donna Lee Harmon. Kari married Rick Petersen on January 25, 2019, in Denton, TX. Kari had a profound affection for animals. She was a barrel racer when she was younger and had cutting and reining horses when she was older. Overtime, her love of animals became the career that took her across the country. Working with companies like Behringer Ingelheim, Waco Vet Supply, and Burns Vet Supply, she engaged with veterinarians and introduced them to new products. Known for her gentle demeanor, she was a staunch advocate for animal welfare, once intervening to stop a man from abusing a horse in an arena. Kari was well-loved in her community; she knew everyone, and everyone knew her. Her warm personality meant that she was greeted with open arms wherever she went. Kari was a proud Texas girl, an A&M alumna, and devoted Aggies fan. She never owned a car, -preferring her beloved Ford King Ranch pickup truck. She was a true socialite, owning a wedding venue in Valleyview, TX, she enjoyed hosting gatherings and loved seeing people smile. Her life was filled with joy, and she cherished the happiness of those around her. Kari is survived by her son, Curtis Petersen and wife Megan, of Krugerville, TX; husband, Rick Petersen of Aubrey, TX; and grandchildren, Aubree, Jackson, Luka, and Blakely; her dog, Fuzzy; and her horse, Cheyenne. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Donna Allen. Kari shared an inseparable bond with her mother, and they are now reunited. While no services are currently being planned at this time, a celebration of her life will be organized on a future date. Online condolences may be shared at www.slaymemorialfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Terri Slay and Slay Memorial Funeral Center.
