Kathie Louise Sauerbry, 72, of Greeley, Iowa, passed away on September 21, 2024, after a tragic accident. Visitation: 4 - 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Bohnenkamp – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Greeley United Methodist Church, in Greeley, with Pastor Mike Jackson officiating. An additional visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Inurnment will take place at Goshen Cemetery, Millville, Iowa.
Kathie was born on July 31, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Kenneth Lee Roy and Virginia (Orr) Byers, she had one brother William Achey and one sister, Patricia Semelroth. She met the love of her life, Glen, and they united in marriage. Glen joined the Air Force early on in their marriage and they became nomads, living in many areas, but Greeley was always home and has been for the past 30 years or so. Together she and Glen have three children. Glen preceded her in death on June 28, 2019. She was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, but she was just Nana to every child who met her. She held many jobs in the past, even earning a degree in Surgical Technology, but her passion was working with adults with disabilities. Helping them live their best lives was her goal. She was kind, loving, and generous with everyone.
She was an amazing seamstress, making many girls and women's dream dress a reality. Wedding and formal dresses were her favorite. Her creations were really stuff of fairy tales with flowing lace and beaded bodices. She put her heart and soul into every dress she created. Kathie will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Kathie is survived by her children, Charlotte (Shane) Graham of Olin, Marge (Mike) Letts of Manchester, Kenneth Sauerbry of Edgewood; stepdaughter Marie Prezeau of Manchester; sister, Patricia Semelroth of Florida; sisters-in-law, Sharon Smith of Colesburg, and Dollie Prickett of Manchester; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Virginia Byers; her husband of 50 years Glen Sauerbry and her brother, William D. Achey.
