Kenneth Gene Konrad (born March 22, 1933) died peacefully on February 17, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury, MD. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy "Dottie" (nee Jones), his sons Michael (Victoria) and Ricky (Regina) as well as three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Ken was a long-time volunteer, coaching youth sports for over 20 years in his hometown of Reading, Ohio. He was an outstanding athlete and a proud member of the Reading High School Sports Hall of Fame. He was part of the Reading High Football chain gang for 23 years working every home football game during that time... rain, shine or snow.
He was also an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Elks Lodge #817 in Salisbury serving on the Youth, Pool and Audit Committees. He also served as President for the Happy Timers senior group in Salisbury in 2008. In 2009 He was awarded the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteerism.
Ken loved his family and had a passion for sports following the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, Bearcats and Ohio State Buckeyes throughout his life. He also enjoyed genealogy tracing the Konrad family back to Bavaria, Germany and the White family to County Limerick, Ireland.
Services will be held at the Elks Lodge #817 at 401 Church Hill Ave, Salisbury, MD on March 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM and in Reading, Ohio on May 24, 2025, at the Reading Community Arts Center at 2:00 PM.
The internment will be at the Saints. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Reading, Ohio.
Donations in his honor can be made to the Friends of the Elks through the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
