Kerry Vaughn Metts, 57, of Louisville passed away at his home on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
Born August 19, 1966, he was the son of the late James Arthur Metts Sr. and Thelma Reddicks Metts.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Roger, Bruce, and Shannon Metts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Heather Whitaker Metts, daughter Grace Metts Kirk (Blake), and sons Marshall, Waylon, and Weston Metts; sisters Darlene Metts, Sherry Metts, and Juanice Metts; brothers Ron Metts (Linda), Tim Metts (Terri); sisters-in-laws Bea Metts and Brandi Whitaker Sanders (John) and many loving nephews and nieces and friends.
Kerry was the most loving and loyal person to everyone he knew. He spent his life as a talented, top-notch welder and carpenter, and he loved to point out buildings that he constructed while driving around Louisville. He also spent several years as a stay-at-home dad, which he said was one of the biggest blessings of his life. He was a beach bum and went to the ocean as often as he could; it was truly his happy place. He loved fishing, arrow-head hunting, and listening to live music with friends. He recently began gardening and walking the trails of Blackacre with his wife and kids. He was a fantastic cook and baker with a major sweet tooth. Most importantly, he was so very proud of his family and the life that they built together.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218, with funeral service starting at 1 p.m. Burial will follow the funeral service at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made via check to the Blackacre Conservancy at 3200 Tucker Station Road Louisville, KY 40299 or online at visitblackacre.org.
