Lawrence M. Pischke November 23, 1966-November 25, 2024 Lawrence M. Pischke, 58, of
Raleigh, NC died in a fatal car accident on November 25, 2024. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1966 and adopted by Larry and Lorraine Pischke, who enjoyed boating on whatever body of water was nearby. The family moved around but Larry always considered Pittsburgh home and was a Steelers' fan. Larry attended high school in Lincolnshire, IL where he played trumpet in his high school band; in college he studied history, graduating from NCSU. The family (Larry, his parents and brother Eric) moved to Raleigh together, where he and his father and brother owned and ran a local store, Hobby Masters. Selling everything from model planes to fantasy gaming gear, Hobby Masters was a cherished local hang out. Ultimately, the store closed in 2009. Larry worked thereafter at Carmax in Raleigh. Larry's passion for the fantasy and Sci-Fi worlds led him to meet his beloved Elaine in 1991 through their Star Trek fan club and charity-based organization, the Raleigh chapter of Starfleet International. They were married in a Star Trek-themed wedding in front of friends and family in January, 1993. Larry and Elaine were joined by their children Greame and Galen, born exactly two years apart. Their boys have been great friends to each other and enjoy movies and playing games as a family, and special birthday trips to Disney World. Larry had great love for his furry friends, treating each and every one like a family member and bringing home stray cats and dogs more times than we can remember. Current pets are Cleo (dog) and Minerva & Albus (cats). Larry also enjoyed live-action role playing and for many years participated in Shadowmoor games in King's Mountain. In recent years he has been joined by his son Galen and daughter- in-law Alex in these games. His grandson, Jordan, loved the many rounds of Pokemon Go he played with his Grandpa. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, son or brother and will miss Larry every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Pischke, and is survived by his wife, Elaine Pischke, children Graeme Pischke, Galen Pischke [wife Alex Winslow], step-daughter Amie Ray [spouse Niles Ray] and grandson, Jordan Ray, 13, his father, Lawrence Pischke and brother Eric Pischke. The immediate family will have a private viewing with a larger memorial service to be determined at a later date.
