ALEXANDRIA, IN – Lee Atha Jr., 77, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, February 17, 2025.
He was born on April 20, 1947, in Portland to Gilbert Lee and Reba (Brown) Atha Sr. and has lived in Alexandria for several years. Lee was a graduate of Anderson High School-Class of 1965. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Army serving his country during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He was a utility man at Delco-Remy retiring in 1996. Lee has always been a horse man and enjoyed training horses following his retirement. He was a member of the Alexandria Eagles Lodge #1771 and the United Auto Workers. He was a member of the Ropers and Doggers Association. Lee was an avid gun enthusiast, a Harley rider and certainly enjoyed fishing. A quiet man, who usually kept to himself, Lee was the #1 fan of his grandkids and their athletic activities. The family was so very pleased that he got to watch them this past weekend.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents
Services honoring Lee's life and legacy will take place at 4 pm on Friday, February 21, 2025, in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Family friend Frank Ward and the Alexandria Eagles Lodge will participate in the service. Military honors will follow the service. Cremation will then take place. Visitation hours will be from 2 pm to 4 pm on Friday prior to the service. There will be a celebration gathering at Norwood Bowl in Alexandria after the service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alexandria Toy Drive, 1703 South Park Avenue,
Alexandria, IN 46001 or envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
