A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Cross Winds Church in Spirit Lake. A private family burial will be held in the Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Okoboji. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Leon Griffith McCoy was born on April 22, 1923, in Newell, IA, the son of Francis "Floyd" and Ora (Griffith) McCoy. He graduated from Estherville Highschool in Estherville, IA. Leon spent the next 40 years farming in the rural Armstrong area. He enjoyed a hard day's work. Leon didn't take time off, if he wasn't farming, he was working on his tractors and other equipment so he could get back to farming. Later in life he entered the banking field and sold real-estate and insurance. He retired in 1990. He was united in marriage to Jeanne Estle on February 16, 1947, in Des Moines, IA. Together they farmed and raised their children Mark and Becki. Jeanne preceded him in death on July 20, 2007. Leon attended Cross Winds Church in Spirit Lake.
He is survived by his grandson's Brent McCoy and significant other Jess Stofferan of Spirit Lake and Jeff Williams and Fiancée Lorinda Vore of Spirit Lake; daughter-in-law Dee Dee McCoy of Spirit Lake; five great grandchildren Samantha, Nicholas, Andrea, Keira, and Marcus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeanne, children Mark and Becki and two brothers, Arnie and Bob.

Leon was a great friend of my family. He and I worked together clerking many auctions for my Dad. At one Auction it was pouring... I held the flashlight under a plastic bag while Leon was clerking. His comment was: " are we having fun yet".
Leon was also a great asset to the Ledyard community. He served as bank director of the State Bank of Ledyard. These memories of Leon will never be forgotten. Our deepest sympathy ...
