Lou "Louie" Ocasio

Angel Louis Ocasio, lovingly known as "Lou", formerly of Woodbury, NJ, passed away on September 2nd, 2024, surrounded by his family at the age of 53.
Born to the late Angela (nee Fantauzzi) Ocasio on January 3rd, 1971, in West Deptford, NJ. Lou is the beloved brother to four beautiful sisters including Helen (Rich) Matteo and Evelyn (Mitch) Larsen. Growing up, Lou loved spending time outdoors. His parents encouraged him to play sports such as soccer and wrestling. In his teenage years, Lou attended West Deptford High School as the graduating class of 1989.
Lou's life became a little bit brighter when he became the loving father of Brianna Ocasio and Nina Ocasio. Being a father to his two girls changed his life for the better. He was determined to raise honest, kind, and strong children the way his mom had raised him and his sisters. As a family, Lou and his girls would go on vacations, fishing trips, and spend quality time together catching up on what's going on in each other's lives. Lou's comforting personality allowed his daughters to have a safe space to express themselves to him as he always offered a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, and advice that wasn't always followed. Being his daughters' #1 cheerleader, Lou encouraged his girls to try their best in school and was heavily involved in their education, he attended every extracurricular activity that Brianna and Nina participated in. When Brianna and Nina became a little bit older, they were able to experience their dad as not only their dad, but their best friend. They shared stories of Lou's barfights over their pizza dinner on Friday nights, poked fun at one another with sarcastic comments, and set a family tradition to watch Wizard of Oz once a year.
When Lou was not spending time with his girls, Lou and his best friend, Stu Fishman, could be found sitting outside together enjoying a Miller Lite or watching The Philadelphia Eagles game. Lou enjoyed watching Family Guy, Philadelphia Flyers and Eagles games, and catching up with family. Lou's warm, welcoming smile and charming personality allowed him to make friends instantly. He had a natural ability to make those around him feel like they'd known each other for a lifetime, making them laugh with his jokes. He spoke honestly and plainly, even when it was hard to do so, because his intentions always came from his heart.
Lou will be deeply missed by many friends and family, including his nieces and nephews Melissa Matteo, Antonio Matteo, Amber Tomes, Chloe Larsen, and Hunter Larsen.
Lou will be remembered fondly by those who knew him as a loving, charming man with a heart of gold.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Lou's viewing on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, from 11am - 1pm in McGuinness Funeral Home, located at 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ, 08096. A Life Celebration in Lou's name will follow immediately at 1pm.
Interment will be handled privately.
