Louise Russell Burchfield, age 92, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025 surrounded by family.
Louise was born on August 22, 1932 in McCalla, AL. She graduated from McAdory High School in 1950 where she was a founding member of the band and played clarinet.
Louise married Lonnie Burchfield in 1950 and together they enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his death in 1996. She shared her later years with Jerrell Andrews until his passing in 2017.
After raising her two children, she spent years working as church secretary at Eastern Valley Baptist Church. Outside of work, Louise enjoyed the "Red Hat Society," playing piano, ballroom and square dancing, travelling, church, and spending time with friends and family.
Louise is survived by her daughter Kathy Barnette (Stanley), son John Burchfield (Jimmie Jean), grandchildren Dana Cottingham, Christy Settle (David), Kerri Heard (Jeremy), Blake Burchfield (Laura), Colby Burchfield, Austin Corley, and Dylan Corley (Brooklyn), in addition to great-grandchildren Holland (Carson) & Hayden Cottingham, Deacon & Neyland Heard, and Jackson Burchfield, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Trull Russell, sister Dorothy Herrmann, and great-grandson Holden Cottingham.
Special thanks to the caring staff at The Oaks Assisted Living, Park Manor Health and Rehabilitation, as well as her long term physician Dr. Sally Ebaugh.
Services will be held at McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Bill McCall. The family will receive visitors beginning prior to the service at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Louise's memory to The Baptist Church at McAdory.
