Louise Carolyn (Praetsch) Soares was welcomed into eternity by her savior, Jesus on July 28, 2025. She was 88.
Born in Needham to parents Robert B. and Margaret A. (Zeigler) Praetsch, she was raised in Needham, graduating with honors from Needham High School, Class of 1954. She was an active member of Needham Baptist Church and worked as a secretary in the Needham Industrial Center for seven years before moving to Falmouth in 1960 when she married George R. Soares, Jr. of Falmouth.
For many years she was an active member of Falmouth Baptist Church, teaching children's Sunday School, acting as publicity chairman and attending home group Bible studies. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Fellowship, Christian Women's Club, and Child Study Club. She volunteered at Falmouth Hospital in Public Relations and bowled with the Sandwich Women's Bowling League. Louise was a member of AA and Al-Anon for 20 years. She spoke often at Gosnold.
She worked locally as secretary to attorneys John Holland, Francis Keating, and John McDonald, as well as doing medical transcription for Dr. E. Langdon Burwell. Later, she was receptionist in her husband's plumbing business for ten years before starting her own local housecleaning business.
She enjoyed poetry, knitting, swimming, biking, playing Solitaire, and shopping. At Bourne Manor, where she lived for the last four years, she was known for walking and playing the piano. She was an avid reader and loved biographies and uplifting books that strengthened her faith. She will be remembered for her sweet, loving spirit, her quiet strength and her devotion to family.
She leaves behind daughters Sharon and her husband Kenneth Teixeira of Falmouth, Ruth and her husband Ralf Schiffmann of Falmouth, and Beth Soares and her partner William Whitlock of Falmouth; grandchildren Crystal Sanders, Felicia Gillon, Sara and her husband Andy Dunn, and Amanda Schiffmann, as well as six great-grandchildren; Tyler, Jeffrey, Jamie, Paris, Aubrey, and Brayden and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, George R. Soares, Jr., her sisters Margaret A. Tocci, Clara Kenefick, Elsie Viles, and brothers Roland R. Praetsch, and Richard A. Praetsch.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 12th from 10:30 – 11 a.m. at Falmouth Baptist Church, 60 Central Park Ave., Falmouth with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
