Lurlene Hysmith
Henderson, TN: Lurlene Carroll Hysmith, age 82, died Saturday morning, January 13, 2018, at Henderson Healthcare.
Mrs. Hysmith was born December 24, 1935 in Chester County, in the New Friendship Community, the daughter of the late Christopher Beecham and Amba Peddy Carroll. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1954 and married Bobby Hysmith in 1955.
She was a stay at home mother until her sons started to school. She began a banking career in Mayfield, KY, and worked in the banking industry for 25 years, in Mayfield, Memphis, Stone Mountain, GA, Chattanooga, and Jackson while Mr. Hysmith worked as Regional Sales Manager for Wonder Bread and Hostess Cake. She retired in 1993 as savings counselor and bank manager with Fidelity Federal in Jackson. After her banking career, she assisted her son as a receptionist at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel for over twenty years.
She was a life member of the Freed - Hardeman Associates, FHU Lionbacker, and a former charter member of the Freed – Hardeman Development Council. She was a faithful member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
She was an avid sports fan, following her sons and grandsons in all their sporting activities, as well as other activities, across several states. She loved to travel, enjoying regular trips to Branson and Pigeon Forge.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bobby Hysmith of Henderson; two sons, Randy Hysmith and wife Angelia of Jackson, and Tony Hysmith and wife Becky of Henderson; four grandsons, Nathan Hysmith and wife Laura of Nashville; Joel Hysmith and wife Lindsey of College Grove; Ross Hysmith of Charlotte, NC, and Ryan Hysmith and wife Abby of Henderson. She has nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Houston Carroll and wife Faye and Lois Carroll and wife Kathryn.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Crook Avenue, with Randy Hysmith and Tony Hysmith officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Committal services will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens with Nathan, Joel, Ross, and Ryan Hysmith officiating.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford, Crook Avenue, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 PM Monday.
