Madena Carol Duncan Basham, age 74 of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully on Monday at her daughter's home in Nicholasville, Kentucky surrounded by her loving family. Madena was born in Bowling Green to the late James and Willadean Kirby Duncan.
Madena was a teacher at Lewisburg School for 2 years, followed by 3 years at the Warren County Public Health Department. She was a Social Worker 23 years at the KY Department of Families and Children Services. She graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1969. She then graduated from WKU in the class of 1973. Where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Social Studies. She later earned a Masters in Psychology and Counseling from Western Kentucky in 1981. Madena was a member of Andrew Baptist Church. Madena was an avid lover of her family, UK basketball, nature, birds, flowers, and her Lord and Savior
Madena is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Basham of Bowling Green. A daughter, Amanda DeAnn Basham of Nicholasville, KY. Sisters, Michelle McGuire and Sharon Johnson (Sondraus) and a brother, Jay Duncan (Cyndi) all of Bowling Green, KY. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday. Funeral service will be at 12 noon Monday at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel, with Burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Prior to service visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 12:00 noon Monday.
Services have been entrusted into the care of the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel.
