Madilynn Christine Wilson, age 12, of Indian Land, SC, danced into the arms of Jesus, Monday,
December 18, 2023, at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC, after a year-long battle with
Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor Cancer.
Her body will be laid to rest in a private Christian burial. The family will receive friends at a
celebration of life service to be held in the new year at Steele Creek Church of Charlotte.
Born on April 28, 2011 in Pineville, NC, Madilynn was, is and will forever be the beloved
daughter of Tommy Allen Wilson and Kristen Schwerthoffer Wilson and an incredibly loving and
caring big sister to Anna Kate (8) and Judah (6). Madilynn was a 7th grade student at Indian
Land Middle School. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends which included trips
to Carowinds, sleepovers, beach vacations, serving with her Mommy in her little brother's class
at church, and playing percussion, which made her Daddy proud.
She was most passionate about dancing, especially ballet. She performed in multiple performances with the Charlotte Youth Ballet in Charlotte, NC and recitals at Sarah's School of Ballet in Fort Mill, SC. Madilynn even choreographed a worship dance for the May 2023 recital while receiving cancer treatment in Atlanta, GA because she was unable to attend class in person at that time.
Her little sister is following in her dancing footsteps and they were blessed to choreograph a dance together which they performed at a Camp Care talent show this summer.
A beautiful memory we will all cherish is Madilynn dancing in church, giving glory to God for allowing her to "Be a Dancer through Cancer". Madilynn loved Jesus! She asked Him in her life at a young age, was baptized, and desired to show His love to others. Her favorite verse was Romans 12:12 "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." She fully lived this verse and was an inspiration to all! We know she heard Jesus say "Well done, good and faithful servant!" as she entered into His presence worshipping Him through her dancing!
Madilynn is survived by her parents, Tommy and Krissy; siblings Anna Kate and Judah of the
home; paternal grandparents, Norman and Lynn Wilson; maternal grandmother, Mary Kay
Schwerthoffer, all of Indian Land, SC; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Madilynn was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, "Papa" Frank Schwerthoffer, who
we know is hugging his "Butzy" (German word of endearment).
Tommy and Krissy would like to express a special thank you to Tommy's sister, Ashley Wilson
Harris, for her tender-loving care of Madilynn, Anna Kate and Judah during their most recent
hospital stay.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be mailed to: Antioch International Church, Attn: Sarah's School of Ballet, 453 Glynwood Forest Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29715; Please make your checks payable to Sarah Corcoran (in memo state for Sarah's School of Ballet or Madilynn Wilson). Madilynn learned to dance at Sarah's School of Ballet, helped teach others and dreamed of becoming a dance instructor herself.

The first day of 6th grade, we didn't really know anyone else at recess, so we spent the time talking, and laughed so hard we almost cried. After that, she was such a dear friend, even if we didn't spend that much time together. I was overjoyed when the next year she came in smiling to our sixth period. She was the sweetest, kindest, smartest person I have ever known.
I miss her so much, and I offer my condolences to her family.
