Margaret "Meg" Crowder Fromhold, 89 of Orange City passed away April 30, 2023. Meg was born November 23,1933 in Forest City, NC. to Lee and Winnie Crowder as one of seven children. After completion of high school she came to Deland, Florida to visit her sister, Evelyn. While there, she met her husband Paul, were married at St Peters Catholic Church in Deland in 1954. After marriage, the couple moved to Miami Fl, living there 40+ years. While there they raised their two children, Carol Underwood and Mark Fromhold. After Paul's retirement, they moved back to Orange City, Fl. Meg was a devout member of St Peters for many years, regularly helping in the country store at the annual bazaar and filling a spot in the chapel.
Meg always displayed a flair for fashion, reminiscent of the Victorian age with her hair partially tied up into a hairpiece she created. Her one -of-a-kind fashions express a part of her, combined with the days of yesteryear. Even as a child she began dressing differently. She designed and sold beautiful dresses, purses, hats, headpieces, jewelry and more to shops in Coral Gables, Dallas, NY, Mt Dora, Deland as well as local art shows. She always looked for old lace and interesting pieces (material, jewelry, clothing} that she could repurpose and create unique pieces of art.
In addition to fashion, Margaret often spent time thinking of others - providing meals and visiting. Her chicken pie and chocolate mousse pie were loved by all. She acted as "another grandmother" to her nieces and nephews as well as the next generation. A favorite pastime though was dancing; she loved to dance and went often. When asked how her evening was. she would often comment "I danced my feet off."
Meg is survived by her children, her brother Jim and sister Mary Anne. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul, per parents, sister Evelyn and brothers Bobby, Charles and Walter {Boyce}.
Family request in lieu of flowers donations be made in her honor to Halifax Health Hospice or Journey's End Animal Sanctury
There will be a Family Hosted Mass Service at St Peter Catholic Church, 359 West New York Ave. Deland, Fl 32720 10:00 am on Saturday, May 6, 2023 followed by a Celebration of Life at St Theresa Hall. Officiating will be Father Medina.
