Mervin E. Heiner Sr.

SPRING GROVE – Mervin E. Heiner, Sr., "Merv," born April 18, 1930, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 3, 2022 surrounded by his family.
He was affectionately known to most people as "Pap." He was born to the late Theodore, Sr. and Mary (Kroft) Heiner.
His greatest enjoyment was camping and fishing with his family at Conewago Campground and along the Juniata River at Green Valley Campground, as well as spending evenings around the campfire. He was a member of many historic tractor and gas engine clubs. Merv was a charter and life member of the Menges Mills Historic Horse Steam and Gas Association. He also served as President of Kingsdale Gas Engine Association. He loved checking junkyards for tractors and engines to restore and bringing back to life.
Pap served his country in the United States Marines, and he loved his lord and savior Jesus Christ. He spent most of his life as a heavy equipment operator at H&H General Excavating Co. His early years of employment were spent at E.S. Leinart & Son. He was also known as a skilled welder/fabricator.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Merv Jr. and wife Mindy, their four sons and their families; a daughter, Debra Messersmith and family; and his companion Creta Nafe and family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, and a stepson Gregory Luckenbaugh.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Merv's life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:00AM at Trinity (Roth) U.C.C., 6417 Church Rd., Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Pastors John Napp and Victor Miller officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at the church cemetery with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00PM and on Saturday from 10:00AM – 11:00AM at the church.
Funeral services are under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove.
The family would like to thank the VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove for all of the care and compassion they showed to Merv during his illness.
