Michael John Collins Jr., age 79, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, in
Mahopac, NY.
He was born to his late parents, Michael and Julia (Daly) Collins on March 22, 1946, in the Bronx, NY; he carried their memory with him throughout his life.
A proud graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School's Class of 1964, Michael went on to serve honorably in the United States Air Force before joining the New York City Police Academy. His distinguished career with the NYPD culminated in his rank of Detective Sergeant, a testimony to his commitment to service and community. Throughout his professional journey, Michael was an esteemed member of the FOP Stephen Driscoll Lodge and the NYPD Honor Legion, where his contributions left a lasting impact.
Michael was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Maria (DePalma) Collins in 2007; they married in 1969 and were blessed with two adoring daughters, Patricia and Christine.
Michael found love again, and was a dedicated family man to his loving wife, Marianne (DeMeo) Collins.
He was a devoted father whose wisdom and love will forever guide his daughters, Patricia Burke (Thomas) and Christine Dubbioso (Matthew), as well as his stepdaughter, Juli Oleksy (Greg).
His legacy will continue in the hearts of his cherished grandchildren, Allison and Nicolas Dubbioso, Kaitlyn and Megan Burke.
Over the years, Michael's love for classic cars grew into an impressive classic car collection, which brought him immense joy. Spending his time traveling to weekly car shows, making friends and proudly showing off one of his three classic beauties, for which he won over 100 trophies.
Above all, to Michael, family was the cornerstone of life - a value he lived out with unparalleled dedication. He will be deeply missed and eternally celebrated by those who were fortunate to know and love him.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for a visitation to be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Homes 418 Route 6 (GPS 418 US 6)

A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate and honor Michael's life will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 11:30 a.m.. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 221 East Lake Boulevard,
Mahopac, NY with NYPD Honors.
Following the Mass, Michael will be escorted to his final resting place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. At graveside, there will be a U.S. Air Force Military Honors ceremony commencing at 1:15 p.m.
