Michael David Goss passed away on February 20, 2025, in Kingsland, Texas after a courageous battle with throat cancer. Born on January 26, 1952, in Bossier City, Louisiana, Mike's life journey was marked by an unwavering spirit, a warm sense of humor, and a profound kindness that touched all who knew him. Mikes loving parents, Scott Boyd Goss and Beatrice (Cooper) Goss preceded him in death.
Mike developed a lifelong love for music, muscle cars, and sports, particularly LSU Tigers and SEC football. Graduating from Minden High School in the class of 1971, Mike soon answered the call of duty by serving his country as a Navy Airman and Photographer's Mate aboard the USS Saratoga from 1971 to 1975. His service included the poignant task of documenting American soldiers in the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War, ensuring that those who made the ultimate sacrifice were identified and returned home to their families.
Mike's professional journey centered around serving others in sales management and led him to Bakersfield, California, in the mid-1980s. Mike committed himself to helping others through his work with the Special Olympics and as a regional manager for various tire and auto parts companies. His entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to co-own Goss Energy, providing energy-efficient solutions to the Bakersfield area.
In 2012, Mike moved to Texas, where he continued to make a positive impact on the lives of those around him through his work at Horseshoe Bay Resort, Lowes, and O'Reilly Auto Parts. His helpful, service-oriented approach never wavered, nor did his unique ability to infuse humor and endearment into every interaction.
Mike is survived by his wife Diana Tryon Goss, siblings-Floyd Allen Goss with wife Cindy (Merritt), sister Lea Ann (Goss) with husband Gary Moon, and brother Robert Goss with fiancé Judy Daniel. Daughters Brandy Goss Merritt with husband Neil, Stephanie Dianne Goss with fiancé Justin, and son Brandon Michael Goss with wife LeeAnn; stepchildren Chastity Beebe and Seth Michael Goss. Grandchildren Charles Finley, Cameron Jeffery and Emory Corrine Merritt; Kaylie Goss Truelove with husband Thomas, Kayden Goss and Katherine Lester; Sarah Kate and Reagan Nicole Goss. His great-grandchildren Brantleigh and Matthew Truelove expanded his loving family.
Mike's final relationship (2012) and marriage (2020) to Diana Tryon brought stepdaughters Kjersti Garcia and Amanda Bellinghausen into his loving embrace. Throughout his life, Mike's cherished pets, including Max, Nemo, Hank, Emmylou, Bucko, and the recently deceased Willie, provided companionship and joy.
Mike's legacy is one of laughter, service, and love. As we bid farewell to Mike, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life that exemplified the best of what it means to be a friend, a family man, and a patriot. His memory will continue to inspire and bring smiles to the faces of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
