Mr. Michael "Mike" Allen Polk of Republic, MO, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June14, 2025. He was born September 26, 1941, in Evansville, Indiana, to Bertram and Beulah (Frank) Polk. Mike Polk was 83 years old.
Mike attended Harwood Elementary School and graduated from Central High School class of 1959.
Mike married JoAnn Walker May 12, 1963, in Evansville, Indiana. Mike and JoAnn were blessed with two children, Jana (Butrum) and James (Jimmy) Polk. Mike was extremely personable and didn't know a stranger, so he naturally went into sales. He worked for Economy Food Center in Evansville, Shedds Foods, Pickrell and Craig, and retired after working 30 years with Kimberly Clark.
Mike and JoAnn were active in their church, Hood United Methodist Church in Republic MO since 1987 (38 years).
When he wasn't working, he enjoyed golf, tennis, pool and watching the Cardinals and Chiefs and he was a die-hard Indiana Hoosier fan. Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren and later his great-grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, father, grandpa, neighbor and friend.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; son, Jimmy; parents, Bertram and Beulah; two sisters Anita Siscel and Marcia Nolen.
He is survived by his daughter, Jana Butrum (Mark) of Hallsville, MO; sisters, Carol Ann Gustafson (Charlie Bill) of Evansville, IN, and Kathy Brooks (Dennis) of Indianapolis, IN; brother, David Polk (Lisa) of Evansville, IN. He had two grandchildren, Michael Butrum (Katherine) of Centralia, MO and Lauren Butrum of Centralia, MO and two great-grandchildren, Fox and Arlo Butrum of Centralia, MO.
Mike will be missed by all of us, but he has been reunited in heaven with those who have went before him. This is the hope we have in Jesus Christ and the promise of an amazing God who loves us.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the funeral home.

Mike was an amazing man and mentor. We would play tennis together every week and many times would talk for hours afterwards. He was always there to listen or give advice to me on life issues as well as business issues. When my son was small, he would come along to the tennis courts. Mike one week brought a toy Kleenex Car for him to play with. I am pretty sure my grandson has that car still.
