Michael Giles Wieber passed July 4, 2025, fitting, as he loved celebrating the holiday by setting off fireworks with his family. Mike was born August 28, 1951, to Giles and MaryAnn (Bohr) Wieber. He was Controller for several Gannett newspapers, including the Lansing State Journal, over many years. He was frank in the best way, honest and steady, never pretending to be anything he wasn't. His opinion could always be trusted, grounded in sincerity and genuine care. Behind his quiet demeanor was a sharp wit and playful sense of humor that came out around those he loved most. Mike loved going to "The Farm", being outdoors, golfing, woodworking, and watching the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Michigan State. He was a loving husband and father, dedicated to his family.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Debra (Trierweiler) Wieber and daughter, Angela Wieber(Bryan Beach); mother-in-law, Jeanette Trierweiler; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Michael (Brenda) Trierweiler, Wendy Thelen, Terry (Geralyn) Trierweiler, and Thomas (Yvonne) Trierweiler and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Gerald Trierweiler, and brother-in-law Mark Thelen.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Klein officiating. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday at 2:30 PM at St. Mary Cemetery in Westphalia, MI. Visitation will be held at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, Monday, July 7 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday, July 8 at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. The rosary to be prayed Tuesday at 7:00 PM. On Wednesday, visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
