Nancy Elaine Short Edgell, 75, of Moundsville, WV, went home to Jesus in Proctorville, OH, on May 6, 2025, after a battle with Alzheimer's.
Nancy was born on July 30, 1949, in Wooster, OH, to the late William and Doris Zimmerman Short. She attended Wooster High School, Class of 1967. Before graduation, she met her husband, Ernie Edgell. They married in 1968 and moved to Moundsville, WV, where they raised their family.
Nancy was a lifelong follower of Jesus and often preached His Word alongside her husband. Together, they ran Lakeside Gospel at Tappan Lake Park in Deersville, OH, where they owned a camper for 40 years. She worked as a church secretary at two churches: Cornerstone Church of God and Moundsville First Christian Church. Nancy was also a frequent volunteer at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glendale, WV, and served as a mentor at Moundsville Junior High School through AmeriCorps from 2005 to 2009.
Nancy was a remarkable quilter, blessed with a talent that could only be given by God. She deeply loved being a mother and grandmother, often spoiling her loved ones with presents and home-cooked meals.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Doris Short; her brother, John Short; and daughter, Tammy Simsa.
Nancy's surviving family includes her husband, Ernie Edgell, formerly of Moundsville, WV; her sister, Leah Springstead of Wooster, OH; daughters, Teresa (Mark) Killen of Proctorville, OH, and Tonya Rodriguez of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Mark (Alicia) Parker of Wheeling, WV, Gage Parker of Wheeling, WV, Ashton Killen of Golden, CO, Lawson Rodriguez of Columbiana, OH, and Londyn and Layton Dague of Moundsville, WV; and great-grandchildren, Markia and Marley Parker of Wheeling, WV. She also leaves behind many other loved and cherished family members.
Services will be held at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory in Moundsville, WV, with visitation on Friday, May 9th, from 5:00 to 7:30 PM, and again on Saturday, May 10th, from 10AM to 11:00 AM, followed immediately by the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Reynolds Memorial Hospital Foundation.
