Nancy McCarthy (Stagg) died on Thursday February 6th, 2025 at the age of 90. She died peacefully with her family by her side at The Enclave of Franklin.
A lifelong resident of Medfield she was born on January 9th to the late Dr. A. R. Stagg Sr and Kathryn Stagg.
Nancy graduated from Medfield High School in 1952 and went on to Colby College in Waterville, Maine. After Colby she began her career in healthcare working in Boston at the Mass General for many years running their clinical lab.
She married her husband Bob McCarthy in the old Saint Edwards Church in Medfield on April 1st 1967. Soon after she retired from the Mass General and they made their home on Orchard Street.
She could be seen all around Medfield running errands for her family, working at the school library or at her boys sporting events. She was always quick to have a conversation whether she knew you for five minutes or 30 years. And she was known around town for her beautiful smile.
She loved her time in Orr's Island Maine with her family. Her favorite thing to do was soak up the sun, read a good book and watch her boys and granddaughters play on the rocky coast.
Later in life Nancy enjoyed spending time at the Medfield Senior Center where she was an avid bridge player. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren to whom she was known as Mimi. Babysitting her great nephews and nieces made her feel young.
Nancy is survived by her son John McCarthy of Medfield, and Bill McCarthy and his wife Amy of Fairfield CT; four granddaughters Kathryn, Emily, Maggie, and Caitlin; her younger brother Chris Stagg and his wife Maureen of Franklin MA and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her husband of more than 40 years Bob McCarthy and her brother Dr. A.R. Stagg Jr. of Medfield.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday February 12, 2025 at the Church of the Advent, 28 Pleasant Street, Medfield, MA 02052. Burial to follow at Vine Lake Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7 at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street Medfield.
