Burial will follow in the Carmen City Cemetery under the direction of Wentworth Mortuary, LLC. There will be a visitation with family present from 5-7p.m. Thursday at Wentworth Mortuary.
Nancy Lea, daughter of the late Harold James and Virginia (Board) Harvey, was born January 9, 1946, at Cherokee, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family January 13,2025, in Fairview, Oklahoma, at the age of 79 years and 4 days.
Nancy was raised in Carmen with her siblings. She graduated valedictorian from Carmen High School. She attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University where she obtained her teaching certificate. She completed her graduate work at Phillips University. She taught school in Wichita and several Oklahoma schools. Nancy then went on to be a principal and retired from Butler as superintendent.
On December 4, 1971, she was united in marriage to James David Oldham at Carmen. Together they had two children, Matthew and Ginna Kate. They raised their family primarily in Carmen between teaching in several towns but returned to Carmen full time after Nancy's retirement. In September she moved to Ringwood to be near her daughter and grandchildren.
Nancy enjoyed painting, sewing, reading, cooking, and taking care of her immaculate gardens. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She once wrote "There is nothing more important in my life than my Lord, my family, and my friends." Nancy exemplified this statement. She was an incredible wife, mother, and Nana.
Nancy was a member of the Carmen Methodist Church, which later became the Carmen Community Church, where she served on the board and sang in the choir.
Besides her parents, Harold and Virginia, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Oldham; her brother, Bruce Harvey; and a stepson, Christopher Oldham.
Nancy is survived by her children, Matthew Oldham of Carmen, Ginna Hulett of Ringwood, and honorary daughter, Dana McGill of Wynona; stepson, David Oldham; grandchildren, Blake Oldham, Bailey Oldham, Zade Hulett, Reese Hulett, Cody Oldham, Curtis Oldham, Tonya Norton, and Oz Oldham; her sisters, Marcia Brown and her husband, Robert of Carmen, Judy Mott and her husband, Darole, of Tulsa; and sister-in-law, Jana Harvey of Enid; other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the mortuary to the Carmen Fire and Rescue or the Ringwood First Baptist Church.
