Nathan Monroe Stuttle, 44, known as "Nate" to most and "Nate Dog" to many, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Marion General Hospital. Nate's well-lived life began in Marion, Indiana, on July 10, 1979, to Lincoln (Billie) Stuttle and Lisa (Rafael) Carter-Cervantes.
Nate was a proud graduate of Mississinewa High School's Class of 1997. In 1999, he met and gave a girl from Madison-Grant a chance. After that, Nate and Christina were never apart. They were married on October 14, 2006, and genuinely experienced "Happily Ever After". Over their 17 years of marriage, they welcomed three children: Evie, Caitie, and Benjamin.
Growing up as an Army brat, Nate developed a deep-seated love for his country, the military, and law enforcement. For nearly 20 years, Nate served the State of Indiana as a telecommunications officer for the DNR and State Police. Later, Nate decided to move towards his other passion, which was a career in the firearms industry. Within two years, he advanced from Retail Manager to his current position as Purchasing Director for Midwest Shooting Center. Nate enjoyed being a coach for the Eastbrook Trap Team and was a valued member of the Fairmount Masonic Lodge #635.
Nate had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor, specializing in "Dad Jokes". He loved music, his guitars, and was an amazing dancer. Nate had a positive outlook on life that was infectious. He was fiercely loyal, compassionate, and never knew a stranger. Nate possessed "The Beard of Knowledge'' and shared its wisdom with all who would listen.
Words cannot express how much Nate will be missed.
Nate leaves behind a grieving, but grateful, family including his wife, Christina; daughters, Evie and Caitie; son, Benjamin; father, Lincoln (Billie) Stuttle; mother, Lisa (Rafael) Carter-Cervantes; brother, Jared (Teresa) Stuttle of Stillwater, NY; brother, Cody (Rachel-Lea) Stuttle of Roanoke; sister, Madison Beseda of SC; grandfather, James Stuttle of Upland; father-in-law, John (Kyra) Short of Russiaville; mother-in-law, Kimberly (Dave) Hildreth of Muncie; sister-in-law, Andrea Short of Indianapolis; brother-in-law, Matt (Kala) Short of Fort Wayne; as well as many other family members including uncles, aunts, cousins, and honorary brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Myra Carter, and grandmother, Arlene Stuttle.
Nate's family welcomes everyone to celebrate this great man and his life at a viewing from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. A Masonic service will begin at 7:30 pm.
Funeral services will be held at North Chapel at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 17, 2023, with Pastor Ryan Budde officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
In lieu of donations to the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 681405, Indianapolis, IN 46268-1405), memorial contributions may be directed to the family of Jeremy Perez on behalf of his daughter.
