Patricia Garren Oates was born on December 17, 1945, in Henderson County, NC, and passed into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Pat was born in Hendersonville, NC to the late Harold and Sarah Garren. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Merchiore and her husband, Chris. She also leaves behind three cousins and her dog, who has been adopted.
Pat attended Hendersonville High School and the University of North Carolina Greensboro. During her working years, she was employed by Diamond Brand and served as an administrative assistant to several local attorneys. She was a hostess for the Hendersonville Country Club and retired in 2011 from the Henderson County permit and licensing department. Pat loved animals throughout her life, especially her dogs. She loved her Lord and family and will be sorely missed. Family and friends are thankful she is reunited with her parents and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Blue Ridge Humane Society or another animal rescue in Pat's memory. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 29, 2025, in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home.
