Peggy Eunice Moore was born on September 13, 1947, in Wyandotte County, Kansas. She came into the world as a spirited baby girl, the daughter of Elnora and Sebron Moore. Although Peggy was the third child in her family, this did not stop her from pursuing every first-place achievement she could imagine throughout her life. Peggy's mother, Elnora, was born on December 3, 1911, in Greenwood, Oklahoma. Elnora claims that her birth took place in the caboose of a train. Facing various challenges, Peggy grew up in a single-parent household, and the significant age gap between her siblings likely motivated her to strive for success and achieve her goals from a young age. Peggy engaged in several different school activities including debate, forensics team, future business leader of American. Peggy chased her personal goals with unwavering determination. She devoted herself equally to her family and her community. With remarkable potential, Peggy not only excelled in her studies but also flourished in her extracurricular activities. After completing her education at West High School, she ultimately graduated from Paseo High School in 1965. Her college journey began at CMSU, where she pursued degrees in speech and drama. As a freshman, she completed the year with an impressive 4.0 GPA. Additionally, she made history as the first African American woman to perform in front of the University presidential staff, surprising both herself and others when the President expressed his disapproval of her choice to serenade the audience. Undeterred by prejudice, Peggy joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in the Fall of 1971. She would later graduate from UMKC in 1972. Her highest scholastic achievement was a masters degree in 1989 from UMKC. As a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated she serving in many capacities including charter member of Xi Tau Omega Chapter 7/16/1983. Basileus of Xi Tau Omega Chapter. Graduate Advisor for both CMSU and UMKC,Cluster Chair, Historian, and Graduate Soror of the year, Basileus of the year, and a host of other honors and nominations. To top all other accolades she was awarded Golden Soror of the year by the magnificent Midwestern Region April of this year. Peggy started her teaching career in 1977 at Westport High School. She retired as an honored tenured educator from the Kansas City Missouri School District after 30 years of service. During her career she taught at several different schools, subjects and grade levels. She was a trailblazer in with student participation. Hosting scholarships, college bound achievements, drill teams and emaculent talent shows. She had a niche for fundraising and 'making something out of nothing'. During her latter career days she ventured into other districts where she found opportunities for alternative methods of involvement and instruction with special needs children. Peggy was welcomed into heaven on August 6, 2025, preceded in death by her parents, Sebron Moore and Elnora Mary Campbell Moore; her sister Cathryn Tatum and Lorita Thompson-Jones and brother Ronald Moore many other loved ones, friends, soror and family who have welcomed her into the kingdom of God. Peggy is survived by her son Du'wayne Lamar Moore and daughter Chalonda Marita Moore; and five grandchildren Darius Moore, Preston Moore; Adonis Moore, Angelica Moore and Alexander Moore. Her niece Margret Ann Lombard, and nephew Eric Wesson along with a host of longtime friends and family. Funeral services Monday, August 18, 2025, 11:00am at Concord Fortress of Hope. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation from 10:00am-11:00am with the AKA Ivy on The Wall services at 10:55am at the church. Services conducted by Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel.
