Perry Carl Leighton

Perry Carl Leighton passed away Sunday January 19, 2025 at home where he was in the care of his loving wife and children. He was born June 29, 1957 in Salem, VA and was the son of the late Robert C. and Virginia Ann Webster Leighton. Perry was a 1975 graduate of Floyd E. Kellam High School in Virginia Beach. He married the love of his life, Denise Lynn Conner Leighton on April 18, 1980 and they have celebrated nearly 45 years of marriage. Mr. Leighton worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for more than 42 years and retired as a supervisor where he was a material expeditor. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in South Norfolk and was a true Dallas Cowboy fan. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden and was always willing to help anyone who may have had some type of need. Whether it be plumbing, electrical, automotive, or just about everything in between, he was up for the task. He rehabbed two homes where two of his children now call home. He was a true servant who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
His legacy will be carried on by his loving wife, Denise Conner Leighton and from their union were their daughter, Danielle Rae Rossman of Chesapeake, VA and their two sons, Aaron Carl Leighton of Elizabeth City, NC and Daniel Connor Leighton of Chesapeake, VA. He is also survived by his brother James R. Leighton and his wife Carolyn of Virginia Beach, VA.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening January 22, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 P.M. at Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322. His life will be celebrated on Thursday January 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Pastor Todd Hodges will officiate. Interment will follow in Moyock Memorial Gardens, 230 Caratoke Highway, Moyock, NC. Loved ones and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences at www.omanfh.com.
