Philip McGarry Obituary

Phil graduated from Paramus Catholic High School, where he was an accomplished athlete in football and track and then graduated Villanova University. He spent the early part of his career as a math teacher at St. Joseph Regional High School and then Manchester Regional High School. Later, owning and operating a Mobil Station in Hackensack. Phil, aka Crash, will be missed not only by his family but by the longtime and loyal circle of friends who stood by his side to the end.
Devoted father to Philip and Caroline, loving son to his father and caretaker Ambrose, beloved brother to Ambrose, Jr. (Kathy), Cathy (Chris) Murphy, Monica and sister-in-law Judy, honored uncle to Amanda, Laura, Matthew and Emily and great uncle to Zoe and Ambrose. Predeceased by his mother, Catherine (2015) and brother, Christopher (2003).
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 14, at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 15, at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect St., Midland Park, NJ 07432.
Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Phil's memory can be made to the charity of your choice.

To the McGarry family :It was a privilege to attend the funeral mass and repast in honor of Phil .Thank you for giving us the opportunity to celebrate his life. Phil Jr did a great job on the eulogy.... And your family is an inspiration in the way you loved your family member well, to the end of his life. God bless.

Our deepest sympathies and prayers are sent to the entire McGarry family at the loss of Phil. He was a great friend and the source of so many good stories!! We´ll miss him so so much- especially at football season. He & Bill were partners in many pools over the years. God bless him & welcome him into Heaven in style! Love you Crash
