Felipe (later changed to Philip) Bernard Urquiola was born April 11, 1928, to Rosaline (Damboorajian) and Daniel Urquiola. At the age of three, Felipe and his parents went to Bolivia, the home country of his father.
During his teens, he met missionaries with the Church of God (Holiness) and did odd jobs for them. One couple was Edwin and Joan Rodman. They encouraged Felipe to go to Kansas City College and Bible School in Overland Park, Kansas. There he received Bachelor of Missions and Bachelor of Arts degrees.
It was at KCCBS that he met Esther Ford. They were married July 25, 1958. In April of 1960, they were sent to serve in Bolivia. They served 4 yr and 3 yr terms. Pamela Joy and Stephen Kent were added to the family while in Bolivia.
Philip's parents and son, Stephen preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; his daughter, Pamela (Michael) Pollard; sisters, Betty Velarde and Virginia (Santiago) Munoz; grandchildren, Justin Pollard, Amy (Bryan) Yarberry and Sean Pollard; great grandchildren, Adalyn and Hadley Yarberry; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Felipe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025 with the funeral service to follow at 10:30 at The Free Methodist Church, with Pastor Lyle Parker officiating.
Memorials may be made to Church of God (Holiness) Missions in care of Glidden-Ediger-Wiggins Funeral Home, 222 W. Euclid St, McPherson, KS 67460.
