Ralph C. Sullivan

Ralph C. Sullivan, 78, of Tolland, beloved husband of 54 years to Ellise (Kenyon) Sullivan, passed away peacefully in the loving care of his family on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. He was born on September 21, 1946, in Worcester, MA, to John Q. and Sarah J. (Veighey) Sullivan.
Ralph grew up in Hartford, attended local schools and was a graduate of Weaver High School, Class of 1965. Following high school, Ralph courageously served his country after being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he worked as a CCTV systems specialist, initially at Burns Electronics and later retiring as a self-employed contractor.
Ralph's family was his pride and joy, and nothing made him happier over the years than spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Eva and Janna. "Papa" always had special jobs for them that often included more breaks than work. Ralph's other passions included playing tennis, visiting the casino, cruises with Ellise, family vacations to Cape Cod, and relaxing on his patio with a cold beer. He dreamed of owning a yacht and having a standup comedy career. We imagine he is living his best life right now doing both.
Ralph had a love for sharing his time helping friends and neighbors with any kind of assistance they needed. He faithfully served on the Buildings and Grounds committee at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Manchester, CT, as well as the Maintenance Crew for his community in the Village at Crystal Springs in Tolland. Ralph always arrived with the right tool for the job, as well as a cooler of chilled beverages to share with others. His work ethic, eye for detail, sense of humor, and "Safety First!" mentality will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by his daughter, Laura Sullivan Hart and her spouse Jeff of Manchester; his son, Skyler Brian Sullivan and his spouse Matt Morrow of Oakland, CA; his grandchildren, Eva and Janna Hart of Manchester; his brother, John Sullivan of Corona, CA; his sister, Mary Brown of Manchester; his close cousin, Peter Prewandowski of Springfield, MA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte. 83) in Vernon. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 2, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial in East Cemetery, Manchester, will be private at the request of his family.
