Regina "Jean" Micera
May 21, 1930 - November 4, 2025
Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Jean Micera, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 95. Born in Long Island, New York, Jean grew up in the Queens and moved to Teaneck, NJ as a teenager. After graduating Teaneck High School, she honed her skills at the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She began her career in the Advertising Department of the Snow Crop Corporation in NYC.
Jean married James Giles Sr on June 13, 1953 and they raised their three children, James Jr, Francene and Howard in Bergen County, NJ.
She was a dedicated mother and driven entrepreneur, founding an at-home mailing business before becoming a successful real estate agent, where she worked with her second husband, Al Micera in the agency they owned.
Upon retirement, Jean spent her winters in Jensen Beach, FL where she contributed greatly to her community by leading the social committee at Island Dunes for many years. She spent the rest of the year in Greenbriar Oceanaire in Waretown, enjoying golf, bocce, mahjong, social activities and traveling with neighbors and her long-time companion, Bob Matucci.
Jean will be lovingly remembered for her high energy, her eternally youthful style and spirit, and her passion for tennis, golf, as well as, word and board games. She inspired all who knew her with her optimistic outlook on life and eagerness to embrace new experiences.
Jean is survived by her three children, James Giles, Fran Hillier (son-in-law Ed Hillier), Howard Giles (son-in-law Dean Nguyen) and two grandchildren, Scott Hillier and Brittany Sapichino and her husband, Anthony Sapichino.
Jean's legacy of love, joy, and resilience will continue to inspire her family and friends.
Viewing will be on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 3pm – 5pm at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home 335 S. Main Street, Barnegat, NJ. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday at 1pm at St. Mary's RC Church 747 West Bay Avenue, Barnegat. Entombment will follow at White Cedars Memorial Park, Manahawkin. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Jean's favorite charity, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
