Richard G. Miller,
75, of Canton, passed away on May 4, 2025 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on September 14, 1949 to the late Olen and Bernice (Dieringer) Miller, in Canton, Ohio. He was a proud graduate of Perry High School and always loved cheering them on from afar. He grew up with a love of sports and played softball, baseball, fumble ball and golf into his adult years. His love of softball and fumble ball gave him years of memories and great friendships. He was inducted into the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 and was lucky enough to take a trip to see his plaque not long ago. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and watching the Cleveland Browns every Sunday with his family.
Thanks to a chance encounter at Stadium Park, he met his best friend and the love of his life, Lorie. Together, they made the best team. His children were the light of his life, and they enjoyed trips to Columbus and Sundays spent as a family. He never met a stranger. Meeting Rick meant meeting a new friend.
Rick is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lorie (Boone) Miller; their children, Alexandra and Noah; brother, Timothy (Kathy) Miller; closest friends, Dave (Linda) Swihart and Joe Quinn; and many nieces, nephews, family, friends and loved ones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son and his beloved Uncle Frank (Janet) Dieringer.
Calling hours will be held Friday May 9th from 6:00 pm - 8:00pm at Formet-Clevenger & Gordon Funeral home in Canton, Ohio, with a funeral service to be held Saturday, May 10th at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Gigi's Playhouse, 15316 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107, or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 223 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 350, Chicago, IL 60606. So sorry for your loss Richard was a good friend of mine that I met playing ball at Stadium Park like you met him there. We again worked together as Mail carriers later in our lives. It is with sadness that I lost touch with Richard in the last few years, May he rest in peace.
