Richard Dean Morrin, 82, of Layton, Utah, passed away on May 30, 2025.

Born on November 19, 1942, in Ogden, Utah, Richard was the eldest son of Dean Francis Morrin and Jane Shurtliff Morrin. He grew up in a family deeply rooted in community service and construction, values that he carried throughout his life. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1961 and Utah State University in 1966.

Richard built a life centered on family, friends, and the outdoors. He was a devoted father and grandfather, always placing his family’s needs above his own.

Professionally, Richard followed in his father’s footsteps, contributing to numerous construction projects that helped shape Utah and neighboring states. His integrity and work ethic earned him respect throughout the industry.

Richard is survived by his children, Jeffery (Laura) Morrin, Janica (John) Gines, Jackie (Jon) Swick, and James (Melissa) Morrin; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Sue Carter, Kathy Opheikens, Mary Dabling, and Jill Morrin; He was preceded in death by his son, Jon E. Morrin; his parents, Dean and Jane Morrin; and his brother, James E. Morrin.

The family would like to thank the administration and staff at Chancellor Gardens as well as the emergency department staff at Intermountain Layton Hospital and the North Davis Fire Department.

A Celebration of life for family and close friends will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Shriners Hospital may be made in Richard’s memory.
