Richard C. Olson

Richard C. Olson, 82, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
He was born October 29, 1943 in Queens, New York, a son of the late Otto Albert & Caroline Pauline (Gugel) Olson. He was a graduate of Cornell University, Virginia Tech and Columbia Bible College. After several years of teaching in Pensacola, FL, in 1972 Richard sensed a call from the Lord to serve the church. In 1973, he began serving as a missionary for The Evangelical Alliance Mission in Taiwan and China. He very much enjoyed all his travels around the world. He retired in 2012 and relocated to South Bend, IN where he has remained until his passing. He was involved with The Chinese Church in the South Bend area, and for the past few years has been attending Trinity Evangelical Free Church.
Richard is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert O. & Carolyn Olson of South Bend, IN; along with seven nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Roger Olson, and two nieces, Ruth Anne Olson and Jenny Gaha.
Memorial services celebrating Richard's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel 3718 South Michigan St., South Bend, IN, where the family will receive guests from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest at Hillington Cemetery, Morris, New York with his parents and brother Roger.
