Rita Vargas-Carabajal, 55, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in Roswell, New Mexico. Please take a moment and share a kind thought or memory with Rita's family at www.andersonbethany.com.
Rita Vargas-Carabajal passed away peacefully at her home with her husband Danny and mother by her side on January 7, 2025, at the age of 55, leaving a void her family cannot fill. There will be a memorial service at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, on Tuesday January 14, 2025, at 9:00 am.
On November 4, 1969, Rita was born to Roy Vargas Sr and Nellie Vargas in Roswell, New Mexico. Rita attended University High School and studied at ENMU-Roswell to be a medical assistant. Rita went on to work at Los Ninos Pediatrics, where she enjoyed working with children. Rita married Danny Carbajal on February 19, 2011, at Baca Campsite, where they were surrounded by their family and friends. She was a dedicated and loving wife to Danny and a devoted mother to her children, Pete, Dominique, and Angelique.
In Rita's free time, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters Alexia, Alyanna, and Leilani, teaching them how to make tortillas and learning how to dance. She loved going to the casino and the outdoors, hunting with her family, and listening and dancing to Spanish music while enjoying life to the fullest. Rita was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Rita loved her brother and sister with all her heart. Her brother Ralph was her partner in crime, and they enjoyed spending time together. She especially loved talking to her sister Renee on the phone; they would laugh, sometimes cry, and gossip about life. She enjoyed talking to her mom daily and always gave her a hard time. She loved spending time and talking with her bonus nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved and always called her Aunt Rita.
Those left to treasure and cherish memories of Rita eternally are her husband of 14 years, Danny Carabajal, at their family home; mother, Nellie Vargas; Son Pedro Anthony Carrasco III and wife Jessenia; twin daughters, Dominique and Angelique Carrasco; three granddaughters Alexia and Alyanna Carrasco, and Leilani Trujillo; brother Ralph Vargas and wife Nicole; sister Renee Trujillo and husband Eric; nephews Roy Vargas III, Larry Vargas, Frankie Archuleta, George Valenzula, Ralphe Noel Vargas, Michael and Gabriel Trujillo; nieces Tierra Vargas and Britany Trujillo; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Rita was preceded in death by her father Roy Vargas Sr, brothers Roy Vargas Jr and Alfred Montoya, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Rita's family sincerely wishes to thank the Progressive Care Unit at The Hospital of Providence East Campus in El Paso, Texas, Gentiva Hospice, and Reverand Enrique Trujillo.
