Robert Eugene Davis 91 of Hillsboro passed away Feb. 18, 2022 at his residence.
He was born Oct 9, 1930, in Louisiana Mo., to William M. and Marie (Mitchell) Davis.
He was a 1949 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He worked as a printer at several local newspapers including The Montgomery County News, The Hillsboro Journal and Greenville Advocate. He printed at Bass-Mollett in Greenville and owned and operated Davis Printing and book store.
He is a Veteran of the Korean War in the U.S. Army from July 1949 until Nov 1952. He was in the 25th infantry division.
He was a member of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church and the Kershaw Hammer VFW Post 1306 in Taylor Springs.
He recovered 100's of bibles for Love Packages for donation.
He married Onita Schwiering on 1954 and she preceded him in death June 10, 2017.
He is survived by one son Kenneth Davis of Decatur and two daughters Sharon Wrachford of Hillsboro and Linda Koonce of Bingham, also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and one sister Grace Wasmundt of Flora IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Onita and two sisters Irma Wasmundt and Shirley Taylor and brothers Ray Davis and Marion Davis.
Memorials can be directed to Love packages or Honor flights
Funeral service will be Wednesday Feb. 23, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Randy Sands officiating, visitation will be Wednesday from10:00 AM until service time.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.
