Robert Preston Klein

Robert Preston Klein, a resident of Picayune, Mississippi, passed away on March 15, 2024, at the age of 70. He was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born on January 20, 1954, to his loving parents, the late John Matthew Klein and Vana Pearl Elizabeth O'Neal Murray.
Robert is the beloved father of Celeste Pertuit (Cory Pertuit), Natalie Dufour (Jake Dufour), Krista Miller, and the late Katee Klein; proud grandfather of Corianne Pertuit, Camden Pertuit, Tristan Shifflett, Gage Fradella, and Harper Schultheis; and adored stepson of Karay Klein. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends all of whom he loved greatly.
Robert graduated from Rummel High School with the Class of 1972 and attended the University of New Orleans. After college, he worked for the U.S. Corp of Engineers in the drafting department and went on to start an early career at the United States Postal Service, as a postman in Slidell. His professional career continued as sales manager in the automotive industry. Through his work, he impacted the community by making people feel appreciated, loved, and valued. Robert never met a stranger with his infectious smile and his sweet, big bear hugs. People would always say, "Robert you could run for mayor! You know everyone and they all love you!"
In his spare time, Robert could often be found attending auto shows and Mecum Auctions, watching old western movies, driving to the coast with his compadres, attending his grandkids' (affectionately known as his "grand-angels") extracurricular activities, or visiting with his grand-dogs. He also loved creating lasting memories with his family on vacations, especially cruising and trips to the beach, and spending time with his lifelong friends. Robert will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
