Robert M. Rutledge III

Robert M Rutledge III (Bobby) was born on August 8, 1940, to Robert and Delana Rutledge in Denison, Texas. He attended Layne Elementary and Denison High School, where he graduated in May 1958. He attended SEOSU in Durant, OK, then joined the Army in 1959 and was stationed in Laos during the Vietnam War. Once he returned home, he was employed in 1963 by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (AT&T) as a lineman and soon after became an engineer until his retirement of 40 years. In 1964, he met the love of his life, Barbara Bartley. In 1972 he was ordained a deacon and continued to ensure his family and loved ones knew of his love for the Lord. They moved from Anna to Denison in 1975 with their four children Glenn, Shawn, Suzan, and Sarah. Eventually moving to Burleson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Billie Ann.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara and children Glenn (Maria), Shawn, Suzan (Boyd), and Sarah (Kevin); his sisters, Connie (Art) and Dana; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was truly the most amazing husband, daddy, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend. We will greatly miss him but will cherish his memories forever, knowing he is now with our Heavenly Father.

Funeral service for Robert will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2025, at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery with Military Honors in Denison, Texas. Family and friends will gather to visit one hour prior to service time.
