Roberta Jean Prestwood

Roberta Jean Prestwood, 93, of Brookhaven, PA passed away on June 4, 2025, at her home.
Roberta was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Frank and Grace Morris on March 20, 1932. She went to the former Glen-Nor High School (now Interboro) and graduated in 1950. She lived in the PA/South NJ area all her life. Roberta worked as an administrative assistant and then focused on raising a family. Later in life she returned to work at Elwyn, near Media, PA, until her retirement.
Mom (or Mom-Mom as she was called) always thought of family first. Her husband John died when she was only 37 and she was tasked with raising 2 boys by herself. She took wonderful care of them, and tried to discipline them as only a mother could. She was a very good cook, especially known for her meatballs and homemade mac and cheese.
Roberta loved nature walks, flowers, and gardening at home. She was strong and independent to a fault, not wanting anyone to fuss over her or do things for her, and was able to remain in her home to the end. She was a great consumer of news and politics, which prompted unending texts of dismay and bewilderment to her friends and family. Above all she was the "fashionista" of the family, always adorned in the newest trends in beautiful clothes and jewelry, with perfect hair and makeup.
Roberta is survived by her sons John (Gwen) and David Prestwood, as well as grandchildren Matthew Prestwood and Elrena (Bill) Evans, and great grandchildren Annika, Joshua, Zachary, Marielle and Christopher Evans. She is preceded in death by her husband John, parents Frank and Grace Morris, daughter-in-law Rachel and granddaughter Amanda.
Roberta was loved by all. We will miss her greatly in this life until we are joined together in the next. The family wishes to thank everyone who made a difference in her life and especially those who cared for her and loved her to the end.
Funeral services are being arranged by Griffith Funeral Chapel, 520 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA 19074. Visitation will be held there on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 10-11 AM followed by a service at 11 AM. Interment at Lawn Croft Cemetery will follow the service and will be private for family only.
